For any of you who are struggling with labor pains while trying to birth your vision, this one’s for you.
On today’s episode Russell explains what the stress is like on the eve of Funnel Hacking Live. Here are some of the awesome things to listen for in this episode:
-- Find out why as you get closer to the launch of something, there seems to be more work.
-- And find out why Russell compares launching something to labor pains before giving birth.
So listen here to see how planning an event is similar to giving birth.
I think one of the reasons why people do that is because they let themselves off. They’re like, well, there’s all this stress and pressure of the thing, and if there’s not like this hard date, they just let the hard date slip and slide and slip and slide and it moves from a day to a week, a week to two, two to a month, a month to multiple months to years and nothing ever gets done.

Good morning everybody, this is Russell Brunson. Welcome to the
Marketing Secrets podcast.
Alright everybody, so by the time you listen to this I’ll
probably be at Funnel Hacking Live, maybe it’ll even be over. I
don’t even know. But I just wanted to record this as we’re getting
closer and closer to the deadline and the amount of things that
have to get done seem to multiply and multiply. And you always
think, “As I get closer all these things will be done and it will
be easier and easier.” But it’s the exact opposite. The closer you
get the more things you forget and the more things it becomes and
gets deeper and deeper and deeper. And it’s crazy.
So I’m heading to the office right now. It’s Wednesday, 10 in
the morning. And for the last 2 or 3 nights in a row we’ve been up
there all night getting the order forms done and getting the print
done, and the event guides, and then the Power Point slides, and
then more Power Point slides, and then there’s more Power Point
slides, and then oh we’re going to launch a viral video for the
thing, so we gotta do the print for that, plus the social strategy.
Plus all the sudden we got the new videos going live and I gotta
record voiceovers for that, but then I lost my voice and so now I
gotta record it again because my voice sounded horrible in the last
one.
It keeps going and I don’t even have one of my presentations
done yet. I think I have six presentations so it’s like, all of
them have some done, but none of them are done. It’s just a lot.
And that’s just my plate, there’s the rest of the team, there’s so
many moving parts and so many moving pieces and it gets
overwhelming and gets stressful.
But I don’t want you to feel bad for me. I wanted to share this
because I know for all of you guys going through this, as you are
approaching the launch of your thing, could be a funnel, could be a
book, could be a product, could be a webinar, could be a course,
could be a new physical product, whatever your thing is, as you’re
trying to launch it the closer you get to the deadline, the more
stuff that starts coming up and the more things there are and your
body does not like it and it freaks out and all it wants to do is
just run away from this pain and shut everything down and be like,
“Stop, just leave me alone. I want to go to bed.” And most people
do. Most people break and crack under the pressure, they’re like,
“You know what, I am going to go to bed. I’m tired.”
But the reason I want to share this with you guys is because I
think one of the reasons why people do that is because they let
themselves off. They’re like, well, there’s all this stress and
pressure of the thing, and if there’s not like this hard date, they
just let the hard date slip and slide and slip and slide and it
moves from a day to a week, a week to two, two to a month, a month
to multiple months to years and nothing ever gets done.
And I think one of the reasons why I’ve been so successful in
this business is not because I’m the best performer, I don’t think
I am. It’s not because…..well, we do have the best product, but you
know, come on now. But it’s not because of any of those things. I
think I got really good at a young age in this business at like
attaching a deadline to something and making it like our lead or
gold deadline. If I don’t achieve this, then I’m going to die.
And with events its that way. Last week we had the 10x event and
it was like, win lose or draw, I’m stepping onstage for these
people, we have to get these things done. And same thing with this,
a week from today jI will be onstage giving my first presentation
and if it’s not done, it doesn’t matter because it all has to
happen. So I think by not giving myself an out and just having,
these are the hard deadlines that have to happen.
When we launch a funnel, the first thing we usually tell all our
affiliates and JV partners and everyone, so they can get it in
their calendars, and then I know, “Oh my gosh, I have to have this
day because we told them this is the day it’s hitting.” You know,
and I think that’s the lesson for you guys today. As you’re moving
closer to anything great, any project, any idea, as you get, when
it’s far away it’s this beautiful vision of how amazing it’s going
to be. I watch, in fact, I’m looking, I’m Clickfunnels office and
I’m looking through the window and I can see the TV screen, it’s
got all the b-roll from all the Funnel Hacking Live’s and I see
that, and I’m like, “Oh there’s the vision. We’re going to that and
it’s going to be fun. Everyone’s going to have a good time and it’s
going to change people’s lives.” And that’s the vision that drives
you.
But it’s probably kind of like giving birth right. You’re like,
you have this baby and you’re like, “It’s so cute. I want another
baby.” And then the wife, at least my wife, as you’re going through
horrible it’s like, “This is horrible, why did we do this.” And I
think right now this is the labor pains that we’re going through
and all those kind of things.
So I just wanted to send you guys this message, just as
hopefully encouragement. Just like, oh my gosh, Russell goes
through this, everyone goes through it. I’m going through pain
right now because I’m trying to give birth to this new idea and you
know, 9 months ago when we started talking about it, it was this
beautiful, easy, amazing thing. I saw the end result and you
forget, I should make this a straight analogy. You forget during
the time of conception that the labor pains are going to come
before there’s a baby. But the conception is so great and amazing,
you’re like, “This is awesome.” And then the labor pains come and
you just want to stop and runaway and hide.
But if you do, the baby never comes. If you do, the event never
happens. If you do, the funnel never goes live. If you do, your
voice is never heard. So it’s understanding that and then being
okay with the labor pains no matter how painful and how horrible
they are in the moment.
And that’s how I’m feeling right now. We are definitely in the
labor pains of it, but it’s worth it. And for me it’s just like,
it’s stopping and right now looking at this video and seeing what
happened at last year’s event. I’m like, okay that’s what I’m
reaching towards. That’s where we’re going, that’s what I’m trying
to accomplish. So just knowing that that’s the baby at the end, the
goal at the end. It’s what makes the labor pains possible.
Anyway, any of you guy who are under stress or pressure right
now because your thing is about to go live. I feel you, I
understand you. I’m going through that pain right now, it’s just
remembering the end result, remembering who you’re serving,
remembering what you’re trying to accomplish. For me, it’s the only
thing that gets me through all this stuff, because man, the closer
you get to that end goal, the harder the contractions pains that
come, the harder that pressure is.
But the difference between people who are great and who are
good, the great one’s thrive through that pressure and come out the
other side even better and they serve at the highest level. So you
guys can do it, I can do it, my team can do it, we’re all going to
do it. It should be fun.
So anyway, hopefully that gives you guys some motivation today.
For most of you, I’m excited to see you at Funnel Hacking Live. I
think we ended up with 4500 tickets. So it should be a huge party,
a big show. And next year we’re going to the same spot, we’re not
going to grow it. So this will be the size of our tribe for at
least the next two years, maybe longer.
After experiencing the 10x and seeing the 35,000 people in the
stadium, I definitely realized I don’t want to do an event with
35,000 people. So I’m super content at where we’re at today.
So if you didn’t get your ticket for this year, make sure you
get it for next year. We’re going to have a discount live while the
event’s happening at funnelhackinglive.com, and then when the
event’s over, that discount ticket will go away as well. So if you
want to get a ticket at a huge, screaming discount for next year,
do it now or forever hold your peace.
Alright, thanks everybody, I appreciate you. Time to go in and dominate the day. Go give birth to a baby, or like 7 babies for all my presentations. I’m having septuplets or whatever. Octuplets? What’s 7? It’s a lot. So I’m going to go give birth for you guys, and hopefully you like the baby. Alright talk soon everybody. See you guys soon.</p>
