We're broadcast now live and in a second now people are coming in, hopefully. Okay, first person has showed up[crosstalk 00:00:08]. Okay he's showed up.
Everybody! Okay Scott's on, Brian's on, Candace [inaudible 00:00:14] Everybody how's it going? Welcome to the Periscope! I know if you're in the U. S it's like two in the morning. I'm so sorry but this is way too good. I hope I woke you guys up. You need to be awake for this because it's going to be amazing, so if you guys are excited give me a double tap as fast as you can go. I need some hearts. Candace, no I'm not in New Zealand, I'm actually in Australia right now. I'm in Sydney. We're about to...I look out the window here, there is, the light's horrible. Can you see it? There's water back there, there's an ocean back there. Anyway it's awesome.
So how are you guys all doing today? Now I got something...I want to introduce you to this guy right here. He is a living legend and we have him here but I need least a hundred people or else I'm not going to introduce you guys to him, so if you guys want to meet him and hear his story, slid your finger over and click the share button to share on your twitter or your Facebook, but let everybody know because it's going to be worth...I should actually charge you for this right now. This is amazing so we got to get some more people on.
Brush for life is doing dishes. Awesome [inaudible 00:01:11] knows who you are. It's Darin. It's 1:42 am, sorry to wake you up. All right guys so if you want to know...this is exciting so we are in Sydney. We just went through Day 1 of [Mal-im-ri's:01:25] and Ian Marsh's event and one of my friends is here and we're talking as like we should Periscope like right now and share this with everybody. So if you guys want to know...and as soon as right there, check that out, whoop, with you Steven. All right so we need some more people on before I'm going to share this otherwise this, it's, I'm keeping it top secret because this is going to be really good.
All right while we're waiting for everybody to show up where are you guys all from? So where are you guys calling in? We may only have the Australian side of the world. Everyone else might be sleeping. Thanks [El La-bra-dear 00:01:56]for sharing. Greetings from Poland. Learn to [inaudible 00:02:00] folks here at the followers[inaudible 00:02:01] thank you. It's [inaudible 00:02:03] on New Jersey. It's like four in the morning in New Jersey. The Netherlands, someone from right next to me, Macedonia, Abu Dhabi, Seattle, Holland, Paris, France, six hours in the snowy mountains. What's up Shawn? California, Idaho, Poland.
All right so we're going to get started. I know that most of our audience is asleep right now so we're about 60 people so we can get started, so if you guys want to meet this guy, if you want to hear his story, give me a double tap. And by the way, I'm having you guys do double taps because I found out earlier today, I was on Tony Robbins he streamed one from his event today and I was trying to do triple tap and it was actually slower than a double tap so I just want you guys to double tap from now on because you get way more hearts that way. So everyone double tap if you're excited, because I'm excited. All right so here's the back story. So here is the man, the myth, the legend himself. This is Darren Stephens. Darren how's it going?
Darin: Good, good, fantastic to be here with you Russell.
Speaker 1: I'm excited too so Darren joining our circle...What was that?
Darin: Christmastime.
Speaker 1: Christmastime. He flew all the way from here to Boise. Four times. And now that I've done that trip, I have more respect for him because that is a long long long way. Anyway, so how many of you guys ever heard the book: Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus? If you've ever read that book give me a double tap as fast as you can. If you've read the book, then let's do like a triple tap or if you've like had the book and you're reading it earlier today I need you to like just slam the screen as fast as you can. All right. So Darren is the man that took that book and went from like one or two books sold to forty plus million. Do you want to kind of tell a little bit about that?
Darin: Yeah well the book has actually sold over forty million copies around the world, translated into 54 different languages and a 150 countries around the world. So I helped John Gray build the Mars Venus Brand and over[inaudible 00:03:51]in sales and with that book.
Speaker 1: Okay, so is that amazing? There's so many things we could pick his brain for for years and years and years but do you mind bragging for a little bit?
Darin: Sure.
Speaker 1: Okay so this is amazing so what is your record for the most money you've ever sold at a live event on stage?
Darin: I did 2.5 million, I did 2.75 million-
Speaker 1: 2.75 million dollars! He made standing on stage selling. So someday I'm going to be like him, I'm hoping, so amazing, just a living legend. All right, so I want him to share with you one of the coolest tips so earlier in our inner circle meeting and he was telling me, "Oh yeah Russell, like you totally screwed up on your book!" And I'm like "What do you mean?" And he's like, "Well how much money did you make on your book?" And I told him and he's like, "you should have made at least a hundred to two hundred thousand dollars before you ever printed your very first book". I was like, "How do you do that? It doesn't make any sense to me". So he explained it to me and it was amazing so I asked him if he would share that tip with you guys right now. How many of you guys want to learn that tip? If you want it, give me a double tap. Because I already know, he knows it, like we don't need...don't have to share it with you guys. If you want to know, give me a double tap as fast as you can. Okay I can just hear you saying "please, please tell me!". Okay, this here-
Darin: One of the things you can do with your book is have a resource section in the back of your book and what that is, is where you can get other people that you can...basically sell them advertising, but we don't call it advertising, we call it resources, where you're adding value to the reader by putting in other companies' details that can be a benefit to them so one of the books I did years ago was book [inaudible 00:05:26]franchising so in the back in the resource section of that book, I put in like franchising lawyers, franchising accountant, or in America or U. S. attorneys. People that would be using that industry and also that could get value from that book. Just like a magazine. When someone advertises in a magazine, that advertising only lasts one month. And you pay a premium for a one month worth advertising. A book, on average, is out in the marketplace for five years, so you can offer them that same amount of advertising in the back of your book, and you'll get five-year's worth for that same price and some people pay 5, 10, 20 thousand dollars for an ad and you can get that income from those people by having them listed in the back of your book. On average, most of my clients or authors would make 20 to 80 thousand dollars before the book is even printed just from the things I put in the back of the book. So that's just a short-
Speaker 1: Is that amazing? Anyway thank you so much for sharing that. So I wish I would have done that...Because I spent...Before the book was ever published, I had writers and editors, and I think my upfront costs were about $150,000 before my book went to press and if I had done that I would have...it would have been free so I would have break even right out of the gates, so anyway, it was amazing. So everyone if you have appreciate Darren for sharing that, give him a double tap as fast as you can. It will be awesome. [inaudible 00:06:46]resource of the book. So you're selling an ad like for 10,000, 20,000, typically-
Darin: Yeah, yeah. Typically, any where from 5,000 up to 10, 15. Some people have got $50,000 per ad[crosstalk 00:06:57]
Speaker 1: So I think that's one of the coolest tips ever. That's a marketing quickie for today. Hope you guys have enjoyed the marketing quickie show here from Australia. Can you see example, we don't have books[inaudible 00:07:05]. We are about to go out and jump in the freezing cold ocean. I'm wearing a coat right now. That's how cold it is but we're going to do it because when you're in Australia you got to jump in the water, right? So it's going to be amazing, so anyway, hope you guys enjoyed the marketing quickie show today. Thank you Darren for sharing.
Darin: Hey. Bye.
Speaker 1: Your wisdom and awesome time[inaudible 00:07:20]give me a double tap as fast as you can! I want to see them, I want to see the hearts fly in! Faster! Come on faster! Oh they're, they're coming, they're coming! Awesome. Anyways you guys have an awesome day, awesome night, appreciate you all and I will talk to you all again soon. Bye.
